150g cabbage
1 large carrot
3 bunches pak choy
3/4 cup rice
Put rice and enough water to cover the rice by 1cm, into saucepan. Medium heat, with lid half on.
Heat some oil in frying pan, medium heat.
Slice cabbage into thin strips. Add to pan, stir, then lower temperature and put lid on pan.
Cut carrot into thirds, then slip with blunt knife and cut right thumb. Pause, note that that really is quite a deep cut and a lot of blood, then continue cutting carrot. Stop when blood starts getting everywhere and in the carrot, then rinse at tap. Wrap and compress in clean dish-cloth nearby, and hold for ten minutes.
Remember to take the pans off heat while waiting for the bleeding to stop.
When bleeding's stopped, put pans back on heat and continue cutting bloodied carrots, using forearm to apply pressure in lieu of a second hand.
Place inelegantly cut carrot strips into pan and stir. Replace lid.
Check rice. Should be done. Set aside off heat.
Cut leaves of pak choy into messy strips, then add to frying pan.
Add sweet soy sauce to pan. Flail around a bit, and ineffectually stir with one hand.
Remove from heat when starting to burn, and call it done.
Set aside ten to twenty minutes to painfully slowly scoop rice and stiryfry out into reheatable containers. That, or decide your thumb's alright, and get on with it.
Place in fridge and reheat when home after 40min run in the dark.
Keep thumb clean and covered.
(serves two nights)
