My hair's straighter. The dry air doesn't promote the wild ringlets like the moist air did back home, so my hair's a little tamer these days. It's also almost long enough to tie back, too.
My fingers are lined with small cuts and slices. I don't know where they're from, and I never notice them (until the water starts making them sting). Hmm - just found another new one.
My skin is darker. I go out a lot and walk or ride everywhere, and come back a shade browner each day.
I have abs again.
I stand taller. I don't slouch near so badly as before (only under the weight of several bags of groceries do I now bow my head and watch my feet shuffle forward in the dirt.)
My feet are going soft. I have to wear shoes everywhere, because there's glass all over the ground. There's a trail of broken bottles between the bar and the uni. (Go figure.)
I'm doing things I never did before.
I went to the uni bar with my room mates. Most nights, I opted out - but I went last night (didn't drink, of course) because the bar was closing down & it was the last night it was open. Danced a bit, talked to friends of friends, got beer sloshed on me, got bored, went home, washed my dress, read Pride and Prejudice, then bed. Wasn't my thing (guess you'd have to be drunk to enjoy it), but at least I didn't have to pay a cent. :^)
I've started my assignments early. I've got a photography portrait to take, a history proposal and essay to write, a kite to co-design and build, and some technical drawings to draw up. I've already started the kite - built a miniature model and managed to get it to glide, and got the rest of the project organised; started my history project just now - got four books out from the library, and have a direction for it already.
Hmm. I wrote this before I walked down to blog, and I've forgotten my trail of thought. Oh well, have this for now. Oh. And some more pictures, why not.

Thongs and kite tied for first, cow second.
ReplyDeleteLove love, mam.
